So, how do we best lead others to God? By example, I suggest. But, what example are we intended, by God, to be? Does God expect us to be a glorified saint on earth or a welcomed sinner in heaven? I propose the latter.
Is the way to lead our fellow mankind toward eternity in heaven, by trying to portray a glorified saint on earth? Should our good attributes and deeds be their roadmap? Let me question if any one of us mortals can ever have enough glorious ways and achievements to power another to eternity? Hardly! Are any of us truly worthy of the label “living saint on earth”? Not me! Reality is man was never charged by God to show how good, perfect or “saintly” we are as the way to lead others to Him. However, we are called to lead by humbly, honestly and hopefully proclaiming God’s promise that, upon repentance, we become a forgiven and welcomed sinner in heaven. Heaven’s gates don’t open because we are so good and worthy but, rather, are unlocked to all who, though imperfect, sincerely endeavor to live a Godly life as outlined and inspired by our Brother, Christ.
When attempting to lead others toward the way to God, our Heavenly Father doesn’t expect any of us to possess all the answers. However, God’s Word, His Bible, is guaranteed to clarify all questions. The Bible’s wisdom, not our human intelligence, is the soul textbook by which to lead others (and ourselves) to God.
Highlighted, bullet point for this posting is best summarized by asking: In leading either ourselves or others through the journey to eternity in heaven, who are we trying to be – a glorified saint on earth or a welcomed sinner in heaven?
